Taxes for minors

I have two questions for anybody that can answer them. My nephew have had a job since he was 15 and he get a lot of taxes taken out of his checks from work and my questions are "Why are the taxes for minors the same as it would be for people over the age of 18?" and "Why are the taxes so high for everyone?"

I wish I could answer that but I cant.I had the same thing happen.I was working since I was 16.It's just always been that way and it sucks.I was more annoyed with school taxes.Even though you just get out of school if your 18 during senior year you need to pay them.I was ticked with almost 400.00 I had to pay to go to school/work when I was a senior.

If you claim exempt you will hardly have any taxes withheld and what taxes are taken by the federal and state will almost always be given back on your return.

actually taxes are taken by the government to use then for defence and protecting our country . but it will be too hard if their collect more from us.i dont this minors wont have any tax law which suggest them to pay money to government.
