Default Stock Market Dictionary - 04-13-2008

when you visit a web site do you need a dictionary ? do you know those financial definition? if not please read it! I have prepare my own financial dictionary you are free to add your own words and complain please! This financial dictionary are in plain english so you dont need any other dictionary to find explanation!

What is 10 K?
Very detail summary report of a company's performance that is send once a year to security and exchange commision (SEC). Typically, 10-K report contains much more detail than annual report and in those report you can find information such as a company history, organization structure, if this is LLC, C coporation, S coporation or other structure, Equity( money), holdings( shareholders) earning per share ( EPS) , subsidiaries ( if is divided to smaller division) this form must be filled within 60 days after the end of of the fiascal year. You need to remeber that 10- K is financial annual report and 10-Q is a quarterly financial report.

10-Q financial quarterly report

This is financial detail report of a company's performance that is submited Quarterly NOT ANNUAL!, by the public companies to SEC (Security and Exchange Commision) in the 10-Q, firms are required to disclose relevant information regarding their financial position ( it good to make track of it)this form must me submited on due date on time, and the information should be available to all interested parties. Some financial web site have 10-q report available to public most brokerage firm as well New york stock exchange and NASDAQ. The 10-Q financial report is due 35 days after each of the first three fiscal quarters. There is no filing after the fourth quarter because that is when the 10-K annual financial report is filled!

52 week high low
this is simple explanation the higest and lowest price at which a stock traded in the past 12 month or a 52 weeks, investors look at those indicator to see what was the lowest and higest price in the last 52 weeks.

A- Nasdaq
This is a Nasdaq stock symbol specifying that the stocks are from Class "A" shares of the company, and remeber we have many Class of share!As you know Nasdaq listed securities have four or five characters.

A-Share
Shares that is trading based in Chinese stock exchange such as Shangai Stock Exchange and Shenzhen Stock Excahgne and stock are ONLY AVAILABLE to purchase by Chinese Citizens. I know that is allowed to purchase stock as Qualified Foreign Institutional Investor but there are lot of requirement so it better to trading using Etrade platform and trade international if you want to,Etrade allow to trade in Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan ,Uunited Kindgom and many other countries

Abnormal Return
Return on Investment (ROI) is diffrent from the expected rate of return.
asset pricing model, using a long run historical average or multiple valuation.

Above the Market
If you put a order to buy or sell a stock that is higher or lower than a current market price you call this above the market not below the market, example of those order include a limit order,sell stop order stock limit and even buy to cover or sell short!
Absolute Priority
Absolute priority is a simple principle in bankruptcy that requires senior creditors to be paid in full before junior creditors and stockholder may recieve any payment. Senior first grab liquidation other creditor on the last!
Acceleration Convenant
certain debt securities and swap agreements stating that the immediate collection of payment and termination of contract will take place should any number of clauses being violated by the borrower.
Accommodation Trading
A type of trading in which a stock trader, equity traders or other traders accommodates another by entering into a non-competitive purchase or sale order. An accommodation trade is often executed when two traders are participating in illegal trading.

thanks for the article.
as iam new to stock exchange this one might help me to know more about the stocks .
i think the better way to get profit is to buy stocks belonging to big companies and keep them for long time .
is it the correct way?
