Default Retirement Funds - 05-30-2008

I'm planning on opening a retirement fund this year. I'm self-employed and in the United States. Thoughts?

You should open 403b, plan or 401K if you are self-employee I don't advise any advise for self employer so I don't exactly know what is the best solution for you I only for with private people and those that working for Corporate American and don't have life or health insurance, lot of people working for Corporate America and don't have either health, medical, vision or other kind of medical Insurance!

You should ask Small business association for help them may be more helpful

If you were planning on using mutual funds as the retirement investment vehicles, you would want to pick a platform that has several good mutual fund options. Some of the more popular platforms where you can select mutual funds from a variety of mutual fund companies include Vanguard, Fidelity, T. Rowe Price and Charles Schwab.

No mutual fund company is the best at all investment strategies. T. Rowe Price is very good at domestic equity strategies while Royce specializes in smaller cap value investments. For fixed-income, Vanguard, Metropolitan West, Fidelity and T. Rowe Price are all very good.

Remember "Do not place all eggs in one basket".
If you are planning to invest in retirement funds be sure that you diversify your portfolio to minimise your risk.

I agree with that statement. Never put all egg in one basket. Try to make your retirement fund in many ways. You also can prepare if something happen if one of your way broke or not going well. I already did that and hope its always working.
