Default Grocery prices and fresh produce. - 06-06-2008

When we went to the store the other day I was annoyed with how much the fruit and veggies I got went up in price.
I used to be able to get more then 4 bananas and only spend around .$70 and the other day I bought only 4 bananas and spent almost $.99. I couldn't believe it.
It was the same with the watermelon and the green peppers. Not to mention the quality wasn't as nice.

What are some items you noticed really went up in cost for you when you shop?

What makes it harder is there really is no way to save on fresh fruit and vegetables since there is never really a coupon. *I know the only time we ever get one is when the store sends a coupon booklet to our house to save $1.00 on $5.00 worth of produce*.But, that doesn't help to much anymore. So, unless you grow a garden how can you save money on fresh produce?

There aren't any ways on saving on fresh produce. Maybe starting your own farm may sound cool, but is not feasible in most cases!
Coupons don't go a big way in saving big. Processed foods can be used, but then the "fresh" concept would be lost!

You don't need a farm to have a small garden..but you at least need a yard...which I don't have.

I normally shop at my grandparents garden in the summer. This year they weren't planning on growing one since they are moving. But, my gram informed me they are going to still have a garden but not as big.So...I am going to be able to save a little.

i think fresh is always costly! a fresh basket of fruits or vegetable is much more expensive than a good meal at KFC or burger king! eeh! this is the worst part

Default economy grocerry and recession crisis! - 06-08-2008

Grocery price is so expensive those days today I bough cherry, watermelon and apples with some fruits and spend $50 dollars when 3 years ago I will pretty much spend like $20 dollar.. I don't count inflation only price for food this is Amazing shocking how U.S economy is in recession. Some people thing that recession will came soon, I thing that we live in recession time and there is nothing we can actually do to prevent recession

One guy that I meet 2 days ago say you know what friend if a gas of gallon will cost $10 dollar I will not drive to job, I said to him so you will not get a money to pay for your obligation homes credit cards bills and other bill he say you right.. so what we can do in this case? I say to him I don't really know what we can do to prevent recession

USA 2008: The Great Depression

Food stamps are the symbol of poverty in the US. In the era of the credit crunch, a record 28 million Americans are now relying on them to survive – a sure sign the world's richest country faces economic crisis
