Default Saving Tips - Home Heating and Cooling - 05-31-2008

If you want to save money you should ask your local electric or gas utillity to help you paying your gas cost or low cost home energy audit to save money! for example audit may reveal inexpensive ways to reduce home heating and cooling costs by hundreds of dollars a year. Keep in mind that a payback period of less than three years, or even five years, usually will save you lots of money in the long-term.

You should also secure your home from cold and hot air so you need to Weatherproof your home. You can easy Caulk holes and it really cheap you can buy caulk in home depot or local home improvement store and cracks that let warm air escape in the winter and cold air escape in the summer. Your local hardware store has materials, and quite possibly useful advice, about inexpensively stopping unwanted heat or cooling loss

Use window coverings to block or let in sunshine and don't use much Air condition in summer if you don't really need as Air condition take so much energy!.

Good tips again. But, They does not really seem practicable. The first thing you need to do, it to have a house which is around trees and this will help your house to get cool before some loss happens to you.

Those are nice tips. You should always save energy. This will save the enviornament too. If you take good care of the air conditioning then your bills also will reduce.

Along this line....

Explain to me why we spend almost 200.00 a month on electric for a 2 bedroom apartment. We weatherproofed and even went over our windows in the kitchen and bedrooms with plastic to hold in the heat. *The apartment wont replace them*, we are on a budget plan because some months electric was more then that.I know we are on the bottom level but we don't have our heat blasting. We sealed the doors with weather proof strips and have draft stoppers down.Yet...our heat is going somewhere and it's not always warm and toasty in here.

So...I don't know why we spend that much when our electric is so much cheaper in the summer even on the budget plan.I wish I knew what else we could do to lessen the cost. But, it doesn't appear to happen.

You can do a few other things to help keep costs down.

1. Turn water heater down a little

2. Keep a/c at no lower than 78degrees, when you are home.

3. Use fans in the summer

4. Use Warm water instead of hot water when doing laundry

5. In the winter keep thermostat at 68degrees when you are home.

Default cost of energy is so expensive so save money! - 06-02-2008

I agree with turning down your thermostats by just a little, you can save a little money and be a little greener at the same time.

I really agree that saving money on heating can save ourself from debt! because cost of heating is so expensive not only heating but also cooling in summer time!

We do all those tips and are bill is still high and instead of warm water I actually use cold and hang dry some of the laundry.Mainly mine since I hate how some clothes fade and shrink.

I'm really concerned since prices are suppose to be higher and caps are comming off now due to the economy.
