Default Bank promotions - 06-22-2008

Do any of you take advantage of bank promotions? What I mean is when the banks offer say $50.00 to join. You can't just create an account and close it within a few days. But, its a free $50.00.So, do you ever take advantage of these offers?

I personally find them to be a hassle unless I already am a member of the bank or am looking for another bank at the moment. Some banks have good promotions and I know a few people who take advantage of them frequently. Then after about 3 months they totally close the account. My husband recently did an offer because his mom asked him.She also gave us her free $50.00 to join. They offered a $50.00 referral bonus for each memeber who you tell about it. So, we were able to make $100.00 totally free. It's not something we'd do normally though.

Most banks are onto the whole "sign for a few days" thing and now stipulate in their contracts about terms of service, etc.

I don't like bank promotion because there is always a catch, when bank require you to take those promotion there is always some kind of ** on the top of $50 dollar bonus mean and indicate that you agree to terms of condition. Bank give your $50 dollar if you pay like monthly fee or other " deal" I don't simple like bank promotion as I am currently working in banking industry and I simple hate what bank is doing to customers they give something for free and take 5 times more! bank is smart!

Default $50 dollar for new checking or saving account? - 06-23-2008

I have see promotion in Citi bank that they give $50 dollar in you open checking or saving account with them, many people stay on line just to open free checking or saving account, there is no trick there , the reason bank doing this is to get new client and to build financial relationship between new client and bank!

Anyone has different opinion about free money from bank?

I usually ignore all bank promotions because they would never give away anything without expecting something back like keeping your money with them for a long time.

In the olden days they used to offer a free toaster and even though what they expected in return was nothing to what they expect these days they did want something from you for that toaster.

You never get anything for free.

I ignore bank promotions. It isn't worth my taking the time to move money around for the promise of $50.00. Energy can be spent better elsewhere, IMHO.

Default banking - 06-23-2008

I personally don't like bank promotion because I think all bank promotion promote product only to get new customers for me this is scams same as sending e-mails to thousand of people without permission, the same bank doing give you something for free and taking so much interest rates on mortgage, or credit card or some kind of loans!

Wow, I'm truely suprised so many of you think they are scams.Legit companies.Banks in this case offer it to get people to join the bank. When I first joined a bank. They would give away an item for opening your account. In my case it was pirex storage containers and for guys they had a tool set.My mom's bank offered a stool that holds tools and something else.It was a thank you for opening the account.

I don't believe there scams. You just need to read the policies and know what your doing before signing up for an account.
