I don't think so if you buy cheap insurance that you will save money, last night my neighborhood house get fired and nothing left to " remodeling" or repair everything include basement and concrete need to get replaced but now Insurance company don't want to pay for everything saying that you have cheap insurance coverage so we don't pay for a dwelling, roof and windows and siding nothing that are outside only inside... so they will get like half money so how they can build new house for half money? there is no way even if you don't hire contractor! you still need to buy materials!
In hoseloans opt for the best and the cheap intrest rate with the tenure period to be high. This will help a lot to save money even in tax consumption also it helps a lot.
