American Express Credit Card in collection!

I have American Express for 12 years and due to the fact that I have lost my job I was not be able to pay my minimum monthly payment on my American Expresscredit card I have send to American Express some payment each month and they have accepet it but call me every week saying it not enough money! One day in May I got call from American Express and AMerican Express credit card customer services tell me that my AMerican Express bill was due and had not been paid. I explained to American Express representative that I pay each month some payment but rep. say he will find solution to take those money he say to me that I have never been late, which I agreed. I told Amex that I would log in and send a payment today and American Express financial representative . offered to waive the late and over the limit fees with is a good thing!

I logged in and paid the bill but after 2 weeks my account went to collection!
The collector has said that if I let them auto debit a pre-determined date and amount by American Express that it will stay off my credit report, which I declined, but offered to pay a specific amount and date, just not auto-debited. He stated that it would then go on my credit, and I replied then there was no reason to pay the full amount, so he of course became rude and I know that if I put auto debit American Express will withdraw full amount because I own them and they have withdraw money from my account! if I send them a monthly payment they can't get full amount!


What can I do at this point to get my collection call stop!!!

You should speak with them but not over the phone as all those conversation is record( all not random) you should write them a letter with certified mail say that you don't have money to payoff your credit card in full and you ask to lower your minimum balance and I am sure customer services representative can do this for you if you give them good reason why they should lower you interest rates, It must be wining winning strategy!

American Express sent your case to Internal collection or 3rd party collection? The reason I am asking is if you are late from 30 to 60 days then American Express will send your credit card account to Internal collection( it is American Express collection company) that work for American Express only. If you are late more than 60 day to 90 days Amex will send your file to 3rd party collection...

Third party collection agencies, with is is a list that I have submit below work on commission base, where collection agency receive a percentage of the amount that they collect from a person that own debt. individual collectors are often work for company and receive are paid a low base wage like from $8 dollar to $10 dollar plus commission based on how much collection money he-she collect! You should also be aware than some agencies also purchase large groups of ( in bunch) charged-off bad debts for small percentage of the " face value" with is amount owed. After a debt is sold ( new creditor) with is collection agency try to call customer to collecting debt.. but after money went to collection agency and collection agency charge-off account , 3rd party collection or junk collection agency don't have any legal right to collect money but not everyone know about it!

I know that lot of people are not even aware that collection agency can't collect debt if a debt is charge-off, charge-off is when customers don't pay for 6 month to creditor minimum monthly payment if during those 6 month card holder pay one monthly payment its another 6 month so cardholders can save time.. but late payment is notify to credit report agency..

this list is long.. and probably you have not put all collection agency in this list as you will have to spend whole day doing research for collection agency..

I uses to work for collection agency and I know that collection agency get a few percentage of what they collect from customers, if customers agree to pay in full then they get about 40% it all depend on company and terms of condition plus employee earn money base salary plus comission!

Collection agency collect money base on commission . Collection agency receive commission start from 10% up to 50% depend on with company they deal and what the total amount!

I have a friend that work in collection agency and she is receiving " tons" of e-mail and phone calls daily from delinquent asking to lower their " monthly payment" to keep away from collection.. but her respond is simple.. we are collection agency we are not credit card company.. we collect money from delinquent person!
